The details you give in your enquiry (property, energy use, goals), your address, your contact details, and payment information processed securely by Stripe. We never store full card details.
To match you with certified local installers, generate your system recommendation — including, for most properties, a satellite roof analysis produced using Google’s Solar API from your address — process your deposit and balance, and keep you updated on your job. The roof analysis shared with installers never includes your address.
Installers never see your name, address or contact details until you choose their quote and pay a deposit. Reviews shown to you have installer-identifying details removed.
Your chosen installer receives your contact details after you pay a deposit — the other installers never do; while quoting, installers see only your general area (like NE1) and property details. We also use trusted service providers to run WattSmart: Stripe (payments), Google (address lookup and roof analysis), Supabase (our database, hosted in the EU), Vercel (website hosting), Microsoft (email) and Sentry (error monitoring, EU-hosted). We never sell your data.
You can access, correct, download or delete your data anytime from Account & settings, or by emailing us. We respond within statutory timeframes.
Completed accounts are automatically anonymised 12 months after installation, unless we're required to keep records for legal or tax reasons.
